    Electrical engineer? Civil engineer?
A biggie for Public Works is roads. However, there is also a big Public Works role in County buildings. For example, the now-being-fixed-up County Building on Aupuni. Have you seen those nice solar collectors that were planned, as would be logical, right from the start of replacing the roof? No, those solar collectors are not there, because Public Works didn’t have it done that way. How will a HELCO engineer look at the dire need to solarize County buildings (and Parks)?
Oh, yeah, guess who is HELCO’s biggest dollar customer? County of Hawaii.

Warren Lee, 61, who retired from HELCO earlier this year after 36 years, is a civil engineer. He previously worked for the Honolulu Board of Water Supply. He is also a retired lieutenant with the US Army Reserve.

Mayor Billy Kenoi said Lee is “perfect” for the post for his skill, leadership experience, and his extensive community involvement; he is involved with a handful of organizations, including The Food Basket, United Way, North Hawaii Community Hospital, and the Chamber of Commerce, according to the Mayor’s Office.

Lee noted Mayor Billy said during his campaign that he would change how the county government provides it’s service, and he would be “that agent of change.”
