Mountain View News — A New Playground For Upper Puna

Mountain View playground is the seventh playground to be installed as part of Mayor Billy Kenoi’s $1 million playground initiative. A ceremony with members of the Friends of Mountain View Park among others was held this week to commemorate the playground’s opening. Isemoto Contracting did the playground installation. Covering 2,300 square feet, the new playground is comprised of two modular-design play areas designed for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. A climbing wall, stairs, platforms, a protective roof and five slides, including a tunnel slide, are among the features. A special synthetic turf and impact-absorbing layer comprise the safety surface installed under the playground. It was not known at press time exactly how much this particular playground cost the County of Hawaii. (Image courtesy of Ilihia Gionson.)
