“It is in personal relationships where we, as individuals, can build local community and maintain some positive growth in local governance. Trust is a big issue in this time. Telling the truth and expecting honesty is the best defense for the drama of the larger collective.”
By Norma Jean Ream
The spring energy has turned up the heat with the dynamic energies of four planets in what is called a Grand Cross. That means that their arrangement has two sets of oppositions at right angle to each other. It is very aggressive and agitated. The Solar Eclipse on April 28 started to bring in some softer energies with the Sun, Moon and Mercury all under Venus’rulership, while Venus is in Pisces, where there is more compassion and concern for others. But, Venus changed signs on May 4 into Aries and became more selfish and challenging.
The slowest moving planets of the grouping stay in close relationship thru May. So the tension around global international relationships will continue to do a power dance, trying to see who will make the first big move. The hottest topic on the planet at the moment is Russia and Ukraine; although, there continue to be civil wars in several Middle Eastern countries, and worsening conditions in Egypt. The power rulers of governments generally are showing a lack of concern for the well-being of the people.
Mars, the planet of action, will, and military force, was in its retrograde motion beginning March 1. It is also in one of the signs that turns its energy to be exaggerated and over the top. Mars turned direct on May 20, which will unharness its power and stimulate a thrust of action. This is good for individuals because action and motivation have been delayed and will now be released to move ahead.
As Mars made this transition in motion, it was be opposed by Venus in Aries. The planets of love and procreative potential have been facing off in each other’s signs. While there is a certain level of support in the situation, it is not optimal for either planet and they tend to dramatize and blow up their differences. It is not a great time for personal relationships. It was a short period of time; mainly the weekend of May 10-11. The Moon was in Libra, sign of relationships, and Venus moved to join in the hard energy of the Grand Cross. Things got very energized for good or ill.
In the same weekend, the Sun opposed Saturn, a standoff of power and force. The tension continued to build to the Full Moon on May 14, where the Moon joined with Saturn in Scorpio. The fixed style of the signs involved combined to block, deny, and resist. The slow motion of communications and negotiations were difficult to bring about good results. The lineup of the slow planets in Cardinal signs, which take quick action, weren’t thoughtful and willing to compromise. Sabers rattled loudly, while chess pieces moved on the board to scary stalemate of power brokers.
The scenario shifts only a little by the New Moon in Gemini on May 28. This lunation occurs on Uranus of the USA chart, which is radical and revolutionary. One of the factors of the USA in taking the role of global cop while, not controlling its own aggressive imperialism. Pluto, planet of power and control is on the Uranus of the Russian horoscope of its Independence. The two governments are in a dangerous confrontation with each trying to control the other over petrol resources in the region.
Mercury will retrograde on June 7 at the degree of the Venus of the USA chart and opposed the Sun of the Russian chart. Venus has rulership over the Midheaven of each countries chart, which rules Congress or Parliament of lawmakers. This could bring the two leaders into a slowdown of further negotiations. Mars will be retracing its path thru Libra until late July, entering its own sign July 27. At that time, Mars regains its dignity and will again operate with better control and mature drives, which we can hope will get the leaders of power back to rational thinking and hopefully avoid an all-out World War with nuclear threats.
This period is challenging and gives us notice to be honest and direct with our individual communications and keeping things real and not projecting our anger on others. It is in personal relationships where we, as individuals, can build local community and maintain some positive growth in local governance. Trust is a big issue in this time. Telling the truth and expecting honesty is the best defense for the drama of the larger collective.
