This holiday season I’m motivated to start making my rag dolls again. I’m hoping to sell them at the surf shop and Moonsprout, and for my friend Suzanne to sell them for me at farmer’s markets. (Look for them at the Breeze’s Botanicals booth in Waimea this Saturday.)
As I was taking photographs of some of the dolls I made the other day, my daughter suddenly had a possessive moment and took capture of the dolls. Before I knew she was sitting in front of the camera holding the dolls. I started snapping away. Then I grabbed a wig from our costume collection and continued snapping away. We had so much fun. I thought I would share our moment together and, in the course, give you a snapshot of these dolls I’m making. They’re pretty rudimentary, but they’re so much fun to make and the materials are coming from other projects I’ve had. Actually, some are leftovers from the fabric Jeff’s used to resin onto the deck of surfboards he has made. The stuffing is either that which I’ve bought from Dragon Mama Futon Shop, or the inside of old pillows. Truly, these are environmentally friendly dolls I’m making.
Jeff calls them my voodoo dolls. Hahahahaha. I think they’re more like, “Tiff’s Retro Rag Dolls.”

Saturday is the Puna Sustainability Expo and these dolls, made of recycled materials, are definitely within the criteria. Why not exhibit?
