For the Kona Coffee Label & Website Competition, the Big Island Chronicle has chosen Woodrose Kona Coffee’s label and packaging designed by Ron and Leslie Brinkman. If you squint you can read the comment below the entry: “I really like the Hawaiian Woodrose. I wanted to put them on my bags but they can’t hold up for shipping. We love being coffee farmers!”
I may not be a coffee farmer, but I like to think of myself as a coffee connoisseur. This label and packaging is a winner! If I saw this in the store, I’d snatch up a bunch for gifts. I love the burlap sack with the lauhala woven pua and the raffia bow. It’s simple, authentic, and — this may not be a word, so I’m making it up — islandesque.
Second place goes to Kona Pioneer Coffee for the tin can and the look of an heirloom. Good work, designers. Now, after being enticed by the packaging, if I could just have a sample of their taste of that coffee! Ah! I can just imagine the rich, fresh and flavorful tasting sips.
