The week-long Eighth Annual Kona Chocolate Festival is Tuesday, March 31, 2009 to Sunday, April 5, 2009, with cacao farm tours, demonstrations on chocolate working techniques, a Miss Chocolate Pageant, a Huggo’s dinner, wine and chocolate pairings at The Mixx Bistro, and a special Sunday brunch at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort, and Spa following a Saturday evening gala benefit.
The gala benefit from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. will feature up to thirty chefs in a chocolate taste-off competition with awards in professional and amateur levels, and categories including sweet, savory, and sculpture. There is also live salsa music, a silent auction, cultural entertainment, chocolate body art, a chocolate fountain, wine, champagne, beer, and endless supplies of chocolate.
General admission for the gala is $40 in advance, $50 at door, and VIP Aloha Circle $125. Attendees must be 21 and over.
