Hilo’s event of the year, the 46th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival, is to be held April 12 to April 18, 2009. Considered the world’s premier forum for both ancient and modern hula, the annual festival at the Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium has been a key contributor to the renaissance of the Hawaiian culture.
On Wednesday, April 15, 2009 will be “free night,” while the hula competition nights that cost between $5 and $25 for tickets are as follows:
