This week, having not been able to obtain sufficient information from Data Systems Administrator Burt Tsuchiya on the county’s two-year-old program tracking county worker internet usage, I turned to Public Information Officer Hunter Bishop.

“Regarding this county-worker-internet-tracking program that the county has had in place for two years, I would appreciate knowing how many workers exactly is this program tracking,” I wrote in a recent blog entry that was forwarded to Hunter Bishop Wednesday, April 15, 2009.  ”How many hours per day, generally, are county workers spending on the internet?  What are the top ten or 20 sites that county workers visit on a daily basis?”

Hunter Bishop responded at 9 a.m. today, Thursday, April 16, 2009, with, “Hi Tiff, I’m working on it. Thanks for your patience. Aloha, Hunter”

Then Hunter Bishop responded again tonight at 6:27 p.m., with, “Tiffany, The information you requested is part of an ongoing county investigation. The information will be made available to the public when the investigation is completed. Let me know if you have any further questions. Aloha, Hunter”

I’ll await this “ongoing county investigation,” presumably having to do with the inquiry Hamakua Councilman Dominic Yagong made weeks back during the budget review with Data Systems.  I’m just wondering why it is being deemed an “investigation” and not a report, and why it appears to be not very straightforward at all.
