(Media release) — Grammy Award and Hoku Award winner Cyril Pahinui will be performing an up close and personal two-hour concert for “Live At The Lead” on Friday, May 14, 2010. The all-ages concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the Lead Center in Kailua-Kona.
The concert will also be broadcast live around the world via state-of-the-art technology via the internet and recorded live for CD release. Tickets are $25 and are available at www.livehawaiianmusic.com, Kona Brothers Coffee, Waimea Music Exchange, or at the door.
Son of the Hawaiian music legend, Gabby Pahinui, Cyril has become a legend in his own right. He was a child prodigy learning slack key guitar at the age of seven and performing on stage at the age of twelve. Read the rest of this entry »

(Media release) — LiveHawaiianMusic.com is excited to be bringing you a live broadcast from the legendary Pahinui Waimanalo Homestead at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, featuring Cyril Pahinui and Don Kaulia. This kanikapila and workshop is put on monthly by Cyril Pahinui, son of Hawaiian Music legend Gabby Pahinui.
During the 80′s the Waimanalo Homestead became legendary for the Kanikapila Jam Sessions that took place there. Now Cyril continues the tradition, by putting on these monthly workshop and jam sessions. Honomu village is 12 miles north of Hilo along the original King Sugar [Cane] heritage corridor. Its former C. Brewer-owned sugar mill 1880 stopped operations in 1946 [merged w/Pepe`ekeo Sugar Mill]. King Kalani`opu`u was Kamehameha the Great’s uncle & war mentor. After Kalani`opu`u died in 1782, Kamehameha the Great went on to unite the Hawaiian Islands under his singular command. Kalani`opu`u descendants include Kekulu Peleiholani (1854-1905), mother of David Peleiholani Kalani Sr. (1879-1947). Both mother/son are buried on Kalani estate land south of Yoshio Tanimoto estate [Tanimoto theater chain, not Akaka Noodle Shop family]. Kalani High School in Wai`alae is not named after Kalani`opu`u. David Jr. was backyard musician w/pal/legend Gabby Pahinui. David Sr. was Honomu land baron, being headlined via nobility.
