(Media release) — The Hawai’i Performing Arts Festival presents ‘Tis The Season, a gala holiday concert and audience sing along at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, 2009.
The concert will feature violinist and Honolulu Symphony Concertmaster Iggy Jang and HPAF Artistic Director Val Underwood accompanying a cast of vocalists selected as “audience favorites” from the July festival, including Angie Solomon and Alysia Lee. Musical theater, opera and favorite music of the season will abound. The holiday gala is generously underwritten by Monks Delight Kona Coffee, Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, and Tiffany and Co. Mokuola
Mokuola, known today as Coconut Island, was a place of refuge like Honaunau City of Refuge. Mokuola sacred rock still lies in the inlet where kids swim today. Mokuola point is where ancient Haw’ns preserved ancestral bones/islet jutting
to sea is where bones were cured by elements. More recently, Ike Keli’ipio’s family, then kin Paul, were Mokuola’s keeper/caretaker [Ike tsunami victims' hero for saving lives 1946]. Read the rest of this entry »
