Legitimacy of law, and it’s moral basis, MUST lie with the consent of the governed. Always.

Major societal changes will be illegitimate without ALL citizens having an equal voice in giving their approval to such a societal restructuring, by referendum.

For this reason, the governor’s veto of HB444 is correct: such a major societal change as requiring by law that our communities now value all sexual relationships as equivalent, that the traditional legal status and role given to heterosexual marriage since the first laws were ever written, can not be forced on to our communities by a few politicians alone, especially by less than open legislative practices as recently occurred in Hawaii.

Only by referendum should our communities and society be allowed to be restructured.

    Power to the people, always.

The ends do not justify the means.

(Media release) — This week the Conservative Forum for Hawaii  announced their Consent of the Governed Project “to restore sovereignty to every citizen of the Big Island” through two ammendments to the county Charter.

“This is an effort to restore true sovereignty to all citizens, so each citizen can more effectively be in control of his own life, and establish a precedent for firmly placing power over our lives where it belongs, in the hands of the people themselves and not with just a privileged few,” said Conservative Forum for Hawaii President Walter Moe.

Although representative government allows for the people to transfer authority and power to their elected officials, such transfer is not absolute, Moe said. “Efficient self-government requires the concentration of decision-making and authority, but efficiency cannot come at the cost of our liberty and freedom,” he said.

Conservative Forum for Hawaii members maintain that elected government officials have taken more and more freedoms and liberties away, and forced more and more constraints on people “in even the most trivial items of how we live our daily lives. ” Read the rest of this entry »

  • Guest Column — Hilo Doctor Autopsies Still Living, Bleeding To Death Patient

    By Robert Duerr

Calling both the present Hawaii and proposed National healthcare system unsustainable, Dr. Edward Gutteling, a Hilo orthopedic surgeon, recently spoke to the non-partisan Conservative Forum of Hawaii. For Gutteling, predicting what’s wrong with the upcoming national system is seeing what’s already playing out in the healthcare debacle in Hawaii.  Not wanting to be only autopsying a bleeding to death patient, Dr. Gutteling also offered workable cures.

Dr. Gutteling, with degrees in physics, oceanography and medicine, opened his prepared talk with “the USA, the wealthiest nation on the planet, we can afford to have a health system that takes care of every citizen that needs care, that is high quality, flexible, affordable, and does not infringe on the freedoms of any citizen… It can be done, and it should be done.” Read the rest of this entry »
